Chatbot Victoria la malagueña

Victoria is a chatbot that uses conversational interfaces on both Facebook and Google Assistant to discuss topics related to Malaga. It can be accessed from any PC, iPhone or Android mobile device through Facebook, Messenger or the Google Assistant itself. Its capabilities are continuously updated. The information currently provided by the application includes:

  • Geolocation data: when the device’s geolocation is activated, Victoria will inform the user of:
  • Amenities: the application includes most of the city features that are geolocalised on Malaga’s street map (callejero.malaga.eu), such as markets, Wi-Fi sites, industrial parks, auditoriums, libraries, cinemas, monuments, museums, theatres, taxi ranks, traffic interruptions, etc.
  • Buses: Victoria can let you know the waiting times for a bus arriving at a stop. If you know the name of the stop, you can ask for the waiting time and it will list all the buses servicing that stop and the time remaining until they arrive. If you do not know the stop number, you can also ask for information about the line, and it will show you all the stops on the line.
  • Car parks: you can check the occupancy rates of the 14 municipal car parks in real time. To find available spaces, you can ask for a list of car parks. You can also ask for a car park map that will display all car park spaces, pedestrian entrances and disabled parking spaces.
  • Restaurants: Victoria can also recommend restaurants, if you indicate what kind of food you want. This will be searched for in Google Maps, displaying the closest restaurants of that type.
  • Routes: one of the most popular elements is obtaining routes to different places, whether it be an address or a well-known place in the city, such as a museum or shopping centre. To achieve this, a query is sent to Google Maps with the location requested by the user.
  • Other interesting information about Malaga: Victoria also provides information on aspects related to the city, such as interesting sights and famous people, weather information, the status of beaches, traffic cameras, common local expressions, the city’s events calendar, and even a Malaga dictionary.
  • To make this information possible, the application is based on a collection of open data provided by the Municipal Computing Centre’s (CEMI, for its initials in Spanish) Open Data Team (https://datosabiertos.malaga.eu/).
