Malaga is an accessible city, with success stories in smart tourism, innovation, inclusion and sustainability.
Malaga is an accessible city. Last year, the European Commission distinguished the work carried out by the city of Malaga in the area of accessibility, within the framework of the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019, an initiative of the European Commission to reward innovation and promote the development of smart tourism, recognising its achievements in smart, innovative, sustainable and inclusive tourism. Malaga has been characterised in recent years as a city that has demonstrated the smartest, most innovative and inclusive solutions in terms of accessibility. These include the “Enjoy the Beach” project, which provides access to the coast for people with reduced mobility; a fully adapted fleet of city buses; and the “Malaga Accessible City” project, which offers cultural and tourist routes adapted to all types of audiences.
