Málaga Carnival 2023

  • 11 Feb 2023 - 19 Feb 2023

The Carnival of Málaga will once again ring out in force in the next edition of 2023 and Málaga is waiting for it. Both in the theatre and the street. More than 70 activities are planned for 2023. A year marked by the return of normality for a festival that consolidates year after year and is a powerful economic engine in the city of Málaga.

The Fundación Ciudadana de Málaga started a few days ago with its 'Mission Impossible.’ A pioneering initiative that has generated a great impact in the neighbourhoods of Málaga. In addition, leaflets and posters will be distributed in hotels, schools and all neighbourhoods to reach as many people as possible.

The Official Singing Groups Competition (COAC) began on 27 January with the preliminary sessions, which will end with the Final at the Cervantes Theatre on Friday 10 February. The end of the competition will kick off the Carnival in the street, with the Gran Gala on Saturday 11 February, which includes the opening speech and the election of the God and Goddess of Carnival.

Sunday 12 February will see the Grand Parade through the streets of the city and the performances of the singing groups in the squares of La Merced and La Constitución.

On the weekend of 17-19 February, there will be other important events such as the Drag Queens Gala (Friday 17), the Battle of the Flowers (Saturday 18) and the Burial of the Boquerón, on Sunday 19, which will bring the Carnival to a close.
