Malaga has 15 municipal markets, distributed throughout the city, from Churriana to El Palo, from La Palma to Huelin, passing through Ciudad Jardín, Carranque, Dos Hermanas, etc;

These 15 markets are home to over a thousand stalls and commercial establishments.

These markets are managed directly by the City Council of Málaga, through the Municipal Markets and Public Roads Service.

The average number of stalls located in the markets is 65, although the city has markets of "all sizes", from the largest one, Atarazanas, which houses 260 stalls, to the smallest, Pedregalejo, which maintains 5 stalls in operation.

As for the activities carried out there, fresh products (greengrocers, butchers and fishmongers) are the real stars of the markets and are the ones making the difference between them and other food retail outlets.
