Shopping
Málaga is an ideal city for people who love shopping. You can find a wide variety of brands and the main international brands in both the historic centre and in the shopping centres.
The historic centre is one of the favourite places for shopping, with Marqués de Larios street as the epicentre. All around it, a whole network of pedestrian streets make strolling and shopping more pleasant, mixed with a rich offer of monuments and museums.
The shopping centres and department stores in the city provide a varied offer and are places of entertainment. They are notable for their convenience in terms of parking and the concentration of numerous establishments in one place.
There are also seaside areas, such as Muelle Uno and the Palmeral de las Sorpresas, where you can enjoy a day's shopping. Both have craft markets where you can buy unique produce and items.
Furthermore, non-European Union visitors who make purchases of over 90.15 euros in shops with the Tax Free logo are entitled to a VAT refund. Claims can be made in the shop when requesting the Tax-Free refund cheques or the invoice for refund, and are then processed at customs when leaving the country.
For additional information on purchases, the Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) is available to collect consumer claims and complaints. It is at the Edificios Municipales, Paseo Marítimo Antonio Machado, 12, ground floor, 29002 Málaga, and its contact telephone numbers are (+34) 951 927 923 and (+34) 951 926 057.
