Cánovas Theatre

The Cánovas Theatre is located on El Ejido Hill, in the Downton District (Centro) in Málaga City, Spain.
The theatre opened in 1991 and has been managed by the Andalusian Agency for Cultural Institutions, reporting to the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Andalusian Government, since 2005.

With 370 seats, the Cánovas Theatre is one of the multipurpose venues run by the Andalusian Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage. Since the 2013/2014 season, the theatre has focused on young audiences, offering creative contemporary shows for the whole family. In 2021/2022, the Cánovas Theatre partnered with the Andalusian Film Library to screen films once a week.

The programme for children and families of the Cánovas Theatre is designed to introduce young audiences to the performing arts. Special activities include the Thespis Project and the Theatre, Music, Dance, Circus and Flamenco Programme for Children and Youths, targeted at educational centres and offering shows followed by talks to encourage students to develop critical skills.
