Jardines de Puerta Oscura (Dark Entrance Gardens)
Located on the southern slope of Mount Gibralfaro, they owe their name to a gate of Arab origin that was in the area.
These gardens were designed to supplement the surroundings of the Alcazaba, harmonising with its ornamentation and layout. Fountains, walks and roundabouts alternate with lush vegetation.
These pleasant gardens were designed by Guerrero Strachan with unquestionable skill, transforming a rugged slope into a succession of terraces, promenades and small pavilions that visitors find especially surprising.
They are also valuable as part of the exceptional landscaped group to which they belong, along with Pedro Luis Alonso Gardens, El Parque, the Casita del Jardinero (Head Gardener's House) and the Customs House.
