Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso (Pedro Luis Alonso Gardens)

Located on the east side of the City and covering an area of 6,500 square metres, these Latin-styled gardens retain Hispanic-Muslim and French features: beds with low hedges to provide colour and symmetry, orange trees for shade, colour and aroma and ponds and their spouting water. They provide contrast, cooling sensations and sounds.

A feature worth noting is the rose garden with 75 varieties from around the world. This design, by architect Guerrero Stachan, makes an intelligent transition between the Park and Puerta Oscura Jardines (Dark Entrance Gardens); the garden also harmonises with the walls of the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro and with the City Council building. Few places in Málaga show as clearly the relationship between architect and botanist.
