Palace of the Marquis of Sonora
This Palace was built in the 18th century by Félix Solecio, a Genoese nobleman who moved to Málaga where he manufactured the playing cards that were sold in America. The façade became the masterpiece of domestic architecture of its time and of many others. Many later buildings copied the design of doors and windows, latches and wrought iron decorations, doorways, attics, and more. The building has three storeys. The façade is of stone and features pilasters, corbels and entablature, all of spirited design with frieze of garlands and rosettes. Above is an attic with the Gálvez coat of arms in the centre.
