Kazimir Malevich
- 15 Sep 2018 - 3 Feb 2019
Kazimir Malevich is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. In the mid-1910s, he created a trend in abstract art which he christened ‘Suprematism’ (from the Latin supremus – the highest), and he continues to influence painters, architects and designers all over the world.
The exhibition presented in Málaga draws on the collection of works by Malevich from the Russian State Museum, Saint Petersburg, the largest and most complete by this master. The group of works on display, including 16 pieces visiting Spain for the first time, shows Malevich’s early creative career, the invention of Suprematism as an innovative expression of his perception of the world through an abstract language, and finally, the development and transformation of geometric Suprematism into figurative forms he referred to as ‘Supronaturalism’.
