The Courbet, Van Gogh, Monet and Léger exhibition The Del paisaje naturalista a las vanguardias en la Colección Carmen Thyssen (From the naturalist landscape to the avant-garde in the Carmen Thyssen Collection) exhibition shows the role of landscape painting in the renovation of modern art thanks to the search by the artists of a greater execution freedom and direct contact with nature. At the same time, you will be able to understand the interesting link that arose between main Spanish painters and the most prominent artistic movements that developed in Europe simultaneously.

The exhibition that will be open until next 20 April presents a selection of more than 40 works of arts from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. You will be taken through a voyage of discovery via landscape painting that starts halfway through the 19th century and ends in 1950 where a link is made to the most important national landscape painters such as Carlos de Haes, Eliseu Meifrèn and Santiago Rusiñol. The exhibition also shows the main tendencies of international art and especially French art while searching for convergences and influences.
