Málaga will host one of the most important sporting events of Spain from 13 to 16 February: the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto (annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams). Following in the footsteps of the 2001 and 2007 events, the best Liga ACB (ACB League; men's professional basketball league in Spain) teams will again meet the challenge at the Palacio de los Deportes José María Martín Carpena (José María Martín Carpena Arena). In addition to the sporting prestige this kind of event generates, the competition organisation will also mean wide mobility flows in the city as well as the promotion of its image abroad and important financial returns in accordance with a study performed at the instructions of ACB.
