Málaga’s Christmas agenda

Live music, theatre and strolls through an illuminated capital summon young and old alike to take part in a full Christmas calendar. In 2022 the iconic New Year’s concert, which takes place in the Teatro Cervantes, crowns this festive season, along with other previous and classic proposals where flamenco shows stand out: Farrucos y Fernández. Un cuento de Navidad, a flamenco music show (20th December) and Zambomba: Suena Jerez en la Navidad. Amor en la tierra, a journey into the past set in Bethlehem to experience the story of Nazareth through flamenco (22nd December).

Novelty and creativity come thanks to the show Navidad. T. Kashif and The Queen symphony, performed by the Coro del Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga, which makes a masterful review of the songs of the legendary band. Just a few minutes’ walk away, in the Teatro Echegaray, there is a children’s concert by Los Crackids and the play Peneque. La canción de pirata, among others.

These are not the only ones; many others are repeated throughout the Málaga Christmas season in the capital’s museums. This is the case of the Museo Interactivo de la Música, which invites the public to play instruments in order to learn through experimentation and which organises Christmas workshops. In addition to this, there are others such as the Museo de la Imaginación, perfect for the youngest members of the family.

Of course, Christmas is not Christmas if the agenda of activities does not include a key date in any almanac: the New Year’s Eve chimes. Hundreds of people gather in the Plaza de la Constitución to welcome the new year together, following the rhythm of the clock while eating the grapes. In addition, there is a music and humour show with artists who liven up the night.
